Known substitutes are trusted people who are not on the roster and whom you [summon match by match](/en/matches/summon-known-substitutes).

## How to add one

1. Open **My Teams**, pick the team and tap **Known substitutes**.
2. Tap **Add substitute**. **Invite known substitutes** opens, with its own link and its own message.
3. Share the link with **Share on WhatsApp**, **Telegram** or **Email**, or tap the copy icon next to the link.

## What only the President can do

Tap the person in the list and choose:

* **Make official player**: they join the roster as a starter and get every match. If a match is already organized, you still have to summon them for that one. When the roster is full, the app explains that a place must open first and the person stays a known substitute.
* **Remove from substitutes**: the app asks for a reason and they stop being summoned.

A Manager can add and share, but not do these two things.

## Good to know

* Everyone on the roster can open the **Known substitutes** list, but only the President and Managers can add someone.
* The link is valid for 24 hours and works for one person only. **Generate new link** does not cancel earlier unused ones, so make one link per person.
* The person sees their own view of the team, shown as "On the bench". If they want out, they can [leave the team](/en/teams/leave-a-team).
* The roster holds up to 30 people: the President, Managers, starters and substitutes. Known substitutes do not take up roster places, and this link still works at 30 people.
* At 30 people, someone opening a starter invitation sees that the roster is full and cannot join. Generating another starter link does not create a place.
* On [Invite players](/en/teams/invite-players) the screen tells you when the roster is full. There you can still share or copy the link, generate links and edit the message. The known-substitute invitation does not show that notice.
* A roster member leaving, or being removed by the President, opens a place. The invitee can open the same starter link again while it is still valid, or the President can try **Make official player** again. Removing a known substitute does not open a place. Transferring the presidency does not either if the person remains on the roster.
* There is no waiting list or notification when a place opens. Someone who wants a roster place checks with the President or a Manager.
* After the link is copied successfully, the copy button shows a check briefly, then returns to its resting state.

## If something goes wrong

If the app can't do what you asked, it tells you. Try again in a few minutes.
