# Leave a team

> How to leave a team and what happens when you do.

You can leave a team whenever you want. You leave that team only: the other teams you are in don't change.

## How to do it

1. Open **My Teams** and pick the team.
2. At the bottom of the screen, tap **Leave team**. If you are a known substitute, tap **Leave the bench**.
3. Pick why you are leaving. You have to choose 1 option, and one of them is **Prefer not to say**.

## Good to know

* You stop seeing the team's matches and being summoned, and the app removes you from the next match.
* The team doesn't see the reason.
* To come back, someone on the team has to invite you again and you join as a new member. If you were a known substitute, they have to add you again.
* A President cannot simply leave. They can [hand the presidency to a Manager](/en/teams/transfer-the-presidency) and leave, or [delete the team](/en/teams/delete-a-team).

## If something goes wrong

If the app can't remove you from the team, it tells you. Tap **Retry**.
