# Transfer the presidency

> How to hand your team's presidency to a Manager.

<Note>Only a Manager receives the presidency; [name one](/en/teams/managers-and-removals) if needed.</Note>

## Hand over and stay as Manager

1. Open **My Teams**, pick the team and tap **Manage team**.
2. Tap **Transfer presidency**.
3. Choose the Manager who receives it and tap **Confirm transfer**.

## Hand over and leave the team

1. On the team screen, tap **Leave team**.
2. Tap **Transfer the presidency** and choose the Manager.
3. Pick why you are leaving the team and tap **Hand over and leave**.

## Good to know

* The transfer takes effect when you confirm. The other person doesn't have to accept.
* In the first case you stay on as a Manager. In the second you stop seeing the team's matches and being summoned.
* If what you want is to close the team, see [Delete a team](/en/teams/delete-a-team).

## If something goes wrong

* If the person you chose is no longer a Manager, the app asks you to choose again.
* If there are no Managers, the screen says so. Tap **Go to Manage team** to name one.
* If the transfer fails, you are still the President. Try again in a few minutes.
